COMC Hoard part 4: Post 1958 baseball

So now we get to the slightly more contemporary cards, that is if you consider 1950's and 60's cards more contemporary. This one will be much more scan laden than the previous post. Also, I did hold out a few 90's cards, if only because I figured they had probably seen plenty of blog coverage already.

And once again I will try to keep these in chronological order.

So let's start with some 1958 Topps:

The Moose Skowron was a replacement for the fairly well worn copy I already had. Although the worn one was a pretty good buy at 25 cents about two years ago at a show.

Easily the best of the 58's is this Willie Mays:

I really like this card. And I mean like like, not just like. I know some people would be put off by the printing lines but they don't really bother me, and the scan makes them look much worse anyway. Plus I'm assuming said lines are what made this card fall into my price range, so I'm glad their there otherwise it probably wouldn't be in my possession now.

How about some 1959 Topps:

And now for 1959 doozy #1:

If I remember right, I got this card extremely cheap from a seller who seemed to be trying to liquidate everything in their store over a weekend a while back.

There's another beauty. I had bought this card sometime during the summer and somehow forgotten about it (don't ask me how), so I was pleasantly surprised to find it in with everything else. In case your wondering, it wasn't the only card I had forgot about. But that's what happens when I build up fairly large amount of cards for 6 or 7 months while waiting for the next time free shipping becomes available.                                                                                                                                                

The next six items shown will be the only one's I got from their respective sets:

1960 Fleer Mel Ott #36

Over the last two years I've completed about 60% of this set, but this was the only card in the last couple of months that I thought was reasonably priced. I've read that a lot of collector's don't like this set, which is something I truly don't understand as I absolutely adore it.

1962 Topps Babe Ruth #142

Another great card!

1963 Fleer Gene Oliver #62

Is it possible to get too many underpriced Ernie Banks cards? I believe the answer to that question is no, no it isn't.

Next we have a trio of 1965 Topps:

The Jose Santiago is a high number (#557). These all came from the same seller as the '59 Spahn, which means they were very cheap.

If you are only going to get two, these guys are a pretty good duo to pick up.

The only two from 1968 Topps:

Again not a bad pair to get. I was making pretty good progress on this set until early last year, and since then it seems to have come to an almost stand still.

One lone 1969 Topps:

This was the set I added the most to last year, and that's counting all the various sports and non sports sets I'm currently working on. I am now more than halfway towards completing it.

Now were going to jump ahead a few years and head north for some O-Pee-Chee, starting first with 1975:

I didn't get very many cards during the black Friday sale this year, mostly because COMC made it easier for sellers to run the exact same sale they always have up every single week. But these were from the dozen or so cards I did get during the sale, in fact these were the last purchased before requesting everything be shipped. They made for a fairly nifty group.

There were two more OPC cards I had waiting in my account for quite some time:

I had completely forgotten about this one as well.

And for the final card we jump ahead even further in time for this 1992 Conlon Collection Christy Mathewson prototype:

I'm a big fan of the Conlon sets and I also really like prototype/sample cards, so this one was a no brainer for me to purchase.

Well this marks the end of the baseball portion of my stash, save for a few that will be in a separate autograph post.
