Like many of you, I took advantage of eBay's 20% off coupon a couple of weeks back, which netted me a fairly big lot of 2012 Panini Cooperstown Crystal Collection.
Normally I don't partake in the one-day only coupons, but for whatever reason, I decided to give it a try this time. I probably should have tried a little harder though to find something more interesting, but not having anything in particular in mind, I just went with this lot that I had been watching for about a month.
I don't really have too much to say about these, so I'll just let the scans do the talking:
This lot of 61 cards was listed for $40 OBO, and I of course went the OBO route. My offer of $30 was accepted almost immediately, and with the coupon, the final price for the lot ended up being $24, which broken down, was 39 cents a card. I was pretty content with the overall price, especially since I never find any of them at shows, and they certainly couldn't be had on COMC for 39 cents apiece.
The only negative thing about this purchase, was that I already had seven or eight of them, but I'm sure it won't be too hard to find some folks to take those off my hands :)
Thanks for taking a moment to look at my page
Pretty nice purchase!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I guess it wasn't too terribly bad.
DeleteNice deal, I really like all the parallels in that set.
ReplyDeleteYou really can't wrong with the parallels from the 2012 and 2013 editions of Cooperstown.
DeleteGreat lot. I especially like the really old timers. And I love the Al Barlick card.
ReplyDeletePanini seems to have really liked Mr. Barlick, as he was featured in a number of their sets around this time period.
DeleteNice purchase. It's hard to pass up their 20% off coupons.
ReplyDeleteThose coupons certainly can be helpful, I just need to try use them a little more often.
DeleteThat's a nice lot, and something that fits your collection. Lots of players you rarely see on cardboard. You got a good deal, too.
ReplyDeleteI tried finding things to buy with the eBay coupons but the eligible items didn't interest me.
p.s. did you get anything else in the mail recently? ;)
This was one of those coupons where it was 20% off of anything over $25, so you didn't have to try and find an eligible item (those coupons aren't very good).
DeleteOur mail delivery has been spotty for the last couple of weeks thanks to some road work. You know that USPS motto about delivering in the rain, sleet, etc.? Yeah, that doesn't apply to here in the middle of nowhere. If they don't want to deliver for whatever reason, they hold it at the Post Office until they feel like delivering it. So far I got mail on Monday, that was it, if they don't bring by tomorrow, I'll just go and pick it up myself... so if there does be something there from you, I will definitely let you know.
Jon, what a great deal! These are some of Panini's best efforts, real gems. I'm interested in your doubles. ;)
ReplyDeleteAll the doubles? Or, do you want me to send you a list?
DeleteI know how great those look in person so I agree great pick up
ReplyDeletePretty much everything always looks better in person, but at least for once the scans seemed to turn out fairly well.
DeleteI should really look into using these coupons more, but I never do it. You did well with the Cooperstown cards. I agree with everyone above that said this was one of Panini's best efforts.
ReplyDeleteThe problem with those one day only coupons is, well... their only good for one day! So it's very easy to blink and miss them, which is why I so very rarely use them.
DeleteParallels are just one of the many reasons I miss the Cooperstown brand. They pop more than just about any other parallel set I can think of. (And I'd gladly take any dupes off your hands!)
ReplyDeleteWhatever Julie doesn't want, will go to you then.
