Touched by an Angel

I have a couple of older trade/care package posts that I really should get to sooner than later, but I'm going to bump the PWE that arrived earlier this week to the head of the line, if only because, it was the first time in my 2 1/2 years of doing this blog that I had received a completely unexpected  package/PWE in the mail.

I know that for some of you out there, this might not seem like a big deal because you get them all the time, but as I said, I don't, so it is a big deal. Since I wasn't expecting anything from anyone, and I hadn't bought anything from anywhere, I initially thought that I had accidently received someone else's mail, that was until I turned over the envelope and saw my name as well as a familiar return address (my Secret Santa recipient)... which belonged to none other than, Trevor, from the Bump And Run Football Card Blog.

Other than the Secret Santa thing, Trevor and I have only had the most minimal of interaction, so that really made this PWE that much more surprising. There were ten cards in the envelope, and all ten of them were set needs, which is always a good thing.

My scanner does not like Golden Age (can you tell?), but try as it might, it still can't take anything away from this awesome 2014 Farrah Fawcett Newsmakers insert.

After these three, I am now only a couple of cards away from completing the 2014 base set... and I don't how it was even possible, but somehow this was the first time that I have seen the Northern Dancer card! It's a really attractive card too (especially in hand), I just can't get over the fact that I had never seen it anywhere before... crazy!

I'm still a ways away from completing the 2012 Cooperstown set (darn short prints!), but being able to knock five more off that needs list is pretty cool, plus I always enjoy getting new cards of Rabbit Maranville.

And last, but certainly not least, Trevor was able to remove another card from my 2017 Archives list. Is it terrible that I had no idea who Justin Bour was? Even though I can't recall the last time I watched a Marlins game, or even listened to a radio broadcast in which they were playing someone, it seems like I still should've known who he was... especially after looking up his numbers, which seem to be pretty solid. If I'm feeling bored someday, I might have to head on over to YouTube and check out a few of his highlights.

Thank you for the cards (and the nice note), Trevor! They were definitely a mood improver. And hopefully I can repay your thoughtfulness sometime soon... possibly in the form of an unexpected PWE.

Thanks for taking a moment to look at my page.

    1. I agree, but it's also nice to have some of my own set needs knocked off from time to time.

  4. I can still close my eyes and picture that Fawcett poster of her wearing the red swimsuit hanging up on my brother's wall.

    1. Ah, the famous Farrah poster! I think I might be a little too young to have ever been anywhere, where someone still had it up, but I'm still quite familiar with it :)
