Shiny and free

A few weeks back, Matt, of Summer of '74 fame, offered up a couple of unwanted football cards to anyone who was interested on Twitter (@mjpmke). I found one of the cards to be quite appealing, so I let him know of my interest, and less than two weeks later said card showed up in my mailbox.

I wasn't collecting football cards during the mid 90's, so sets like 1995's Collector's Edge Excalibur, are for all intensive purposes, completely foreign to me. This card is a TekTech insert, apparently there are quite a few parallels of these, but this is just the base version. I really like the way these look in person, so much so, that I think that I'm going to try and put the set together... I'll have to wait and see about all those parallels though.

Matt, thank you again for the card, and thanks for helping me find such a cool new (to me) set!

Thanks for taking a moment to look at my page.

    1. You can't be on the Twitter all the time, or you could, but that wouldn't be much of a life.

  2. This a base version? Can't imagine what the parallels would look like. Great card!

I don't remember seeing much Collector's Edge products aside from the '92 and '93 base sets. (Excalibur/First Place/whatever stuff never hit my LCS)

    1. COMC is your friend :)

I can't remember what year it was, but the only one that I can remember seeing was a really crappy looking basketball set.

  3. Beautiful card! I just looked over on COMC... but didn't see any Packers or Seahawks. If they made a card like this Favre... I will eventually own it.

    1. 1995 Seahawks I can understand, but it seems kind of weird that they left Favre out.

    2. He might have made the set, but COMC doesn't currently have any copies. :(

    3. And see I was looking at the sold out cards, and he isn't among those either.
